This is an album I enjoy from start to finish very much. It's very raw, musical and strong without being too anarchic. I discovered Patty Smith with her Horses album, but for me, this more accessible, somewhat "more usual rock album from that era" sounding record is one of the best of that time, and perhaps Patti's best. I have yet to listen to "Radio Ethiopia" more carefully, I only listened to it once or twice.

Easter, is an album I can play over and over. I enjoy its energy, strong lyrics and feel you can really "get" Patti's personality and feelings. It's tons of fun and I recommend it to anyone. If you haven't listened to it yet, do so now.

By the way, only the mastering was done on 20 bit. The CD itself is encoded in a standard 16 bit fashion. And It sounds very nice.
Cheers!

Patti Smith Group - Easter (1978) [FLAC] (Arista 1996 20bit mastering) Empty East Coast influence

Although I've heard of Patti Smith, I wasn't as stricken by her as maybe I should have been. Sure, everyone in the rock scene during the 70's n' 80's had heard of her, but feel her main presence was more with the east coast than the west coast. I remember most of the older crowd (X-Hippy's) and some of the drug culture/punkers were also into Patti Smith back in the day. You could tell not by the amount of non-radio airplay, but mostly the small collection of Patti Smith albums some people would have in their collections (several Hollywood parties back in the day). I always thought it was because they were more diversified, wanted to look cool and cultured or just rich enough to buy everything. Me? I felt I was just lucky enough to own a few Blondie, Pretenders, Joan Jet/Runaways, or Missing Persons albums (when it came to female vocalists). But for the most part, if it wasn't Hard n' Heavy Rock, or Pink Floyd, It could have easily passed me by.
